I was a Woman; No More, No Less

(haha, i was most definitely NOT a woman yet when i painted this... but the title came from a line in a story began writing at the time which later morphed into the basis for a graphic novel currently under construction.)

the summer of uh... between freshman and sophomore years of high school, i think. i got so pissed off at my art teachers for refusing to let me do anything outside of black and white OR anything imaginative, i ran to an art supply store, bought the most obnoxiously violent hues i could find, and whipped this out as soon as classes were done.

obviously, that moment had a HUGE impact on my work. i still have severe tendencies to extreme colour and strange subject matter. and proof that i was always this outlandish as a painter.

i'm posting this more for nostalgia's sake than anything else. another thing i found in my lost projects closet. strangely, most people who've seen my work in person, list this old thing as one of their favourites. i think it's the melty-guy in the background.
